The Tourism Ambassador
Mrs. Lynette Harrigan was awarded an MBE by His Majesty the King for her contributions to Regional and International Travel during the COVID-19 pandemic and to the community in the British Virgin Islands. The first awardee from the BVI for King Charles.
She has dedicated the last twenty-seven years to supporting and building BVI’s tourism industry. As a member of staff at the BVI Tourist Board, she has traveled globally to promote BVI tourism at numerous events and exhibitions, benefiting the local industry and economy. She has sought to diversify the sector and encourage tourism throughout the year, rather than just during the peak months. This has included establishing more niche markets, such as romance tourism and the incentive market, which focuses on companies that offer reward schemes to their workers, including access to exclusive resorts with total buy-outs.
Lynette also holds the position of Liaison Manager, where she provides exceptional service to hundreds of tourists, industry partners, and the local community on a daily basis. She became the ‘go-to’ person, working exceptionally long hours to provide around-the-clock assistance in resolving related travel issues and other areas needed by the local community.
Beyond her work for the Tourist Board, Lynette also serves the broader community through her volunteer work. Lynette is also a long-standing member and past president of the Rotary Club of Tortola, having organized numerous fundraisers for local schools, charities, and vulnerable individuals.
Lynette is a great representative for the BVI. Over the last two decades, she has repeatedly gone above and beyond in her work for the BVI Tourist Board, which is appreciated by both the industry and visiting tourists.
