Biography

The Culture Creator

Candice Bryan is a hospitality leader, creative and youth advocate working to strengthen the foundation beneath a great tourism experience; developing people, creating opportunities and cultivating ideas that can help the Virgin Islands welcome the world while remaining authentically itself.

Her journey into hospitality began in 2018 through Saira Hospitality’s BVI pop-up school where she completed Cornell University’s Service Excellence On-Demand Program. Over the past eight years, that opportunity has evolved into a career at Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, where she has progressed from Resort Host to Front Office Manager. Her experience spans Front Office, overnight guest services and Marina operations, giving her a broad perspective on the people and systems behind exceptional hospitality.

In March 2026, through the Government of the Virgin Islands’ Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs & Sports’ “Teach for a Day” initiative, Candice worked with students at the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies, exploring the hospitality mindset alongside service excellence and career possibilities. The conversation went beyond the jobs within the industry to consider how we think, speak and behave in an industry that remains central to the Virgin Islands’ economy and identity. The engagement later evolved into an immersive career-readiness experience at Scrub Island, where Candice served as a speaker and helped bring the resort’s participation to life, coordinating the experience and operational logistics behind the visit.

Outside her hospitality career, Candice is also songwriter and performing artist Kendake, using music and visual storytelling to explore identity, memory, culture and human connection. Her creative work extends into the visitor experience itself, where she performs and creates moments of connection for visitors while contributing to the cultural energy of the destination. For Candice, hospitality and creativity are not separate worlds; they are different ways of making people feel welcomed, connected and part of something.

Her work increasingly asks: How do we build a tourism product our people can shape, our visitors can feel, and future generations can sustain?
